Airport Economic Zone of Beijing Daxing International Airport, established upon approval by the State Council, with the core area covering an area of about 150 square kilometers, including about 50 square kilometers in Beijing and about 100 square kilometers in Hebei, plans three major areas, namely, aviation logistics area, science and technology innovation area, and service guarantee area. In the future, it will be built into an accessible city with convenient air-rail intermodal transport, a city of Chinese culture, an exchange city that embraces the world, a city of innovation for airport economy, an impressive city with vivid image, and a livable city with ecological wisdom.

Airport Economic Zone is strategically positioned as the "area undertaking the functions of an international communications center, leading area of scientific and technological innovation in aviation, and demonstration zone for coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region". On September 5, 2019, the Master Plan for Airport Economic Zone of Beijing Daxing International Airport (2019-2035) was approved, marking the start of substantive construction of Airport Economic Zone.

The Beijing part of Airport Economic Zone is divided into east and west areas, of which the west area of about 26 square kilometers is equipped with the International Life and Health Industrial Park, International Technological Innovation Zone, International School, and International Hospital, and the east area of about 24 square kilometers is equipped with the Central Ecological Park, International Convention and Exhibition Center, International Conference Center, Guomen Business District, and Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The Airport Economic Zone plans to build a "1+2+2" airport industry development system with life and health as the leading industry, aviation hub and aviation service guarantee as the two basic industries, and the new generation of information technology and intelligent equipment as the two reserve industries.

"1" leading industry refers to the life and health industry, with the focus on introducing the cluster of specialized hospitals mainly providing international cutting-edge medical services and the life and health industry cluster, forming interactive development with Daxing Biomedicine Industry Base, Yizhuang Biomedical Park and Changping Life Science Park.

"2" basic industries refer to the aviation service guarantee and aviation hub service industry, with the emphasis on the development of aviation headquarters, aviation materials, aviation fuel, aviation food, maintenance and other aviation transportation service guarantee industrial chains, as well as industries such as aviation logistics, international exhibitions, and technical consulting and services.

"2" reserve industries refer to two emerging industries of new generation information technology and intelligent equipment, which lead the key development orientation in the strategic blank areas.

The Airport Economic Zone has formulated the first comprehensive index system for airport development in China, which describes four visions of innovation and efficiency, green and low-carbon, smart and convenient, and dynamic culture in detail via 4 first-level indicators, 14 key targets, and 49 second-level indicators. It obtained the platinum pre-certification of LEED for Cities in July 2018, and is the world's first planning and design pre-certification project of LEED for Cities.
