Under the guidance and promotion of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the Beijing China-Japan Innovation and Cooperation Demonstration Zone is the first international cooperation demonstration zone with innovation as its theme officially approved and established by the National Development and Reform Commission. It takes the lead in piloting policy innovations such as the international protection of intellectual property rights, constructs an international innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem with scientific and technological innovation at its core, facilitates the full flow of elements such as international talents, technologies, capitals, and information under the framework of RCEP, and creates a demonstration of international innovation collaboration and industrial cooperation development. It was incorporated into Beijing's "Key Industrial Agglomeration Areas" in 2023.

The demonstration zone is located between Daxing District, the "New Capital Gateway" in the southern part of Beijing, and Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. It lies in the core area of the southern central axis, with a total area of approximately 10 square kilometers. As an important carrier for the construction of the "Two Zones" in the capital and a major project during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the demonstration zone integrates multiple policies such as the RCEP policy pilot area, the comprehensive pilot program for the expansion of the service industry in Beijing, and the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. It focuses on serving innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and creates innovative industrial clusters with a focus on medicine and health, advanced intelligent manufacturing, etc. It is an important carrier for Beijing to build an international center for scientific and technological innovation and an international exchange center, creating an international living environment that is suitable for living and working for "specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative" enterprises, "little giant" enterprises, "invisible champion" enterprises, and international talents.

It is the "first" demonstration park for intellectual property insurance work in Beijing. The High People's Court of Beijing has set up an intellectual property circuit tribunal in the demonstration area and introduced international intellectual property service institutions.
